Virtual Learning

Like every school, every teacher, every student around the world, the norms of education have been completely uprooted at One! International. Schools have been ordered shut since March 16th 2020, almost 9 months.

At One! International, we were fortunate to have had funding to build computer labs (thanks to the incredible efforts by the students of SCONA High School in Edmonton). We quickly diverted these funds into building Virtual Study Centers. Tablets were purchased, internet was arranged.

I had to learn a whole new world – google classroom, making teaching videos, online assignments and the works. In August, our Virtual Classroom was ready!

Now, we have more than 40 students learning a range of subjects at various levels: English (3 levels), Math (3 levels), Science, Social Science and Hindi. Students form Step 7 (like Grade 7) and above are challenged by the new system but incredibly thankful that they are learning again. Grade 10 and 12 students are able to continue preparation for the difficult government exams.

There was a steep learning curve for everyone, but we have found our groove and proud of the progress that has been made!
