- Volunteers in India assist with the children’s education, personal and physical growth. Typical duties of a volunteer include teaching classes (basic hygiene, basic English, basic math, etc.), maintaining child records, organizing weekly activities (meals, sports, drama, music, travel), etc. The volunteers are expected to put in approximately seven hours a day, five days a week in program implementation and on some Saturdays for a few hours to take the children on fieldtrips (strictly fun!!).
- There is a minimum two-month commitment time required for each volunteer (special exceptions permitted). There are MANY holidays in India, which allows volunteers to go on weekend trips out of Mumbai to explore India. One! provides food and accommodation for its volunteers. This provided, volunteers can give more time and energy to the children who really need it. Volunteering for One! is a full-time job, but a job that is more satisfying than any other!
- We have a Health Program in India which is administered by volunteers in the Health Services field – nurses, dentists, etc. If you have an interest in this area please send your contact information to the Volunteer Co-ordinator, to receive additional information for this area. The minimum volunteer commitment time for volunteers is waived for the Health Program volunteers.
